    About Department

    The Agriculture Department is an important department of the Zilla Parishad and the Agriculture Development Officer works as the head of the department. The Agriculture Department is responsible for delivering individual benefit schemes to the farmers for the overall development of the farmers. Thane district is located in the Konkan region of Maharashtra. In order to increase the agricultural income of the farmers in the rural areas of the district, various schemes are implemented by the Zilla Parishad and the District Agriculture Department with a view to making modern agricultural technology, improved seeds, fertilizers, tools, etc. available to the farmers at affordable prices and to create awareness  among the farmers about these matters. Farmers are also guided through the Agriculture Officer and Extension Officer regarding the use of modern agricultural technology. Agricultural schemes are implemented through the government as well as through the cess of the Z.P.

    Introduction-

    The District Agriculture Officer (General) subordinate to the Agricultural Development Officer is the Drawing and Disbursement Officer of the department and the control and supervision of the staff establishment work is also done through him. Also, agricultural schemes are implemented from the Zilla Parishad Cess Fund and schemes under special component schemes are implemented through the District Agriculture Officer (SCP) with the help of the Taluka-level Agriculture Officer and Extension Officer.

    Vision and Mission-

    To improve the economic status of farmers and expand the agricultural sector. To effectively implement various agricultural schemes required by the farmers of the district from the own resources of the Zilla Parishad.

    Objectives& Functions –

    1. To contribute to the economic upliftment of the farmers in the district and to raise their standard

    of living.

    1. To supply the farmers with the necessary agricultural inputs and to control their quality.
    2. To create a sustainable source of income for the farmers from agriculture and allied sectors.
    3. To make modern technology available to the farmers in the agricultural sector.
    4. To contribute to the economic upliftment of tribal farmers and to raise their standard of living.
    5. To increase the production and productivity of farmers.
    6. To increase the use of mechanization to overcome the problem of laborers in the agricultural

    sector.

    1. To effectively implement various agricultural schemes required by the farmers in the district

    from the Zilla Parishad’s own income.

    4 Schemes/Programmes-

    4.1 State Government – 

    Birsa Munda Agricultural Revolution Scheme–

    Objectives of the scheme-

    To raise the standard of living of Scheduled Tribe farmers in the district by increasing their income and making them self-sufficient.

    Benefits granted –

    Under Birsa Munda Krishi Kranti Yojana (In-Area / Out-of-Area) Beneficiaries will receive a new well amount of Rs. 2,50,000/- old well repair amount Rs. 50,000/- or plastic lining of farm Rs. 1,00,000/- out of which the benefit of single component shall be admissible, electricity connection for pump sets with each component amounting to Rs. 10,000/- Drip Irrigation Set Amount Rs.50,000/- or Frost Irrigation Set Amount Rs. 25,000/- Pump Set) Diesel/Electricity (20,000/- PVC Pipe 30,000/- Parsbagh-500/- will be given the package.

    Beneficiary Selection Criteria –

    1. Beneficiary should be Scheduled Tribe farmer.
    2. The farmer should have the caste certificate issued by the competent authority.
    3. 7/12 land holding certificate and copy of 8-A must be in the name of farmers.
    4. Beneficiaries must have Aadhaar card. Beneficiaries should have a bank account and the said bank account must be linked to Aadhaar card.
    5. Below Poverty Line beneficiaries must submit Proof of Being Below Poverty Line (BPL) along with the application.
    6. The annual income of a Scheduled Tribe farmer from all sources should not exceed Rs.1,50,000/-. It will be mandatory to get updated proof of income from Tehsildar and submit it along with the application.
    7. Minimum 0.40 hectares for new wells and minimum 0.20 hectares for other projects excluding new wells. Area must be and maximum area for all objects under the scheme The limit will remain 6.00 hectares of agricultural land.
    8. Beneficiary under the said scheme will be paid the benefit of one component either new well, repair of old well or plastic lining of the farm.
    9. The recommendation of the Gram Sabha is required for the beneficiary to avail the benefits under the said scheme.

    Dr. Babasaheb Krishi Swalamban Yojana-

    Objectives of the scheme

    To raise the standard of living of Scheduled Caste farmers in the district by increasing their income and making them self-sufficient.

    Benefit Allowable

    Dr. Under Babasaheb Ambedkar Krishi Swavalban Yojana, the amount for a new well to the beneficiary is Rs. 2,50,000/- old well repair amount Rs. 50,000/- or plastic lining of farm Rs. 1,00,000/- • Out of this single component benefit will remain payable. Seed connection for pump set with each component

    Size -10,000/- Drip Irrigation Set Amount Rs. 50,000/- or Frost Irrigation Set Rs. 25,000/- Pump Set) Diesel/Electric (-20,000/- PVC) will be given the package.

    Beneficiary Selection Criteria –

    1. Beneficiary should be a Scheduled Caste/ Neo-Buddhist farmer.
    2. The farmer should have a caste certificate issued by the competent authority.
    3. Names of farmers must have 7/12 certificate of land holding and copy of 8-A.
    4. Beneficiaries must have Aadhaar card. Beneficiary should have a bank account and the said bank account should be linked to Aadhaar card.
    5. Below Poverty Line beneficiaries must submit Proof of Being Below Poverty Line (BPL) along with the application.

    Zilla Parishad Self Fund (Cess Fund Scheme)

    1. Control of natural calamities and sudden outbreaks of pests with 50% subsidy
    2. Supply of crop protection implements, materials and other inputs to farmers
    3. Supply of agricultural materials and improved agricultural implements to the farmers, materials for the development of agricultural processes.
    4. To supply irrigation materials for agriculture
    5. Supplying subsidized seed sets to farmers
    6. Supply of agricultural inputs to disabled farmers with 90% subsidy
    7. Scheme to provide financial assistance to farmers for cultivation of floriculture and promotion of sericulture
    8. Providing additional subsidy for biogas construction
    9. Providing transport finance to the groups for sale of vegetables
    10. Scheme to provide financial assistance to farmers for orchard and vegetable cultivation
    11. Subsidy to farmers for farm stratification

    4.2 Central Government –

    National Biogas Development Scheme-

    Under the National Biogas Development Scheme, central government grants are provided for biogas generation.
