    “K Kavitecha” – A Student Poetry Collection

An Initiative by Panchayat Samiti Kalyan – Education Department

Every child possesses some innate talent. To discover and nurture this talent, the “Kaviteche Dalan” (Poetry Corner) initiative was launched under the inspiration of the Panchayat Samiti Kalyan Education Department and with the guidance of dedicated teachers. As a part of this unique initiative focused on children’s literature creation, a poetry collection composed by students from Zilla Parishad schools has been published.

The objective of this initiative is to awaken students’ sensitivity, give them a platform to express their emotions, thoughts, and ideas, and in doing so, enrich their language skills—both knowingly and unknowingly.

This student-written poetry compilation titled “K Kavitecha” showcases the creative spark and literary imagination of young minds. With the increasing influence of English-medium education, many children are gradually moving away from the Marathi language. This collection, therefore, also serves as an effort to reconnect today’s generation with Marathi by compiling poems from both new and established poets that resonate with children.

The initiative emphasizes the importance of integrating values-based learning into language education. It also aims to identify and nurture creativity among children from ordinary backgrounds with limited resources—cultivating the future readers, writers, and poets of tomorrow.

This collection proves that even very young children can possess a high level of literary creativity. Their poems touch on themes like parents, school, relatives, festivals, marathons, professions, and more, making this project a deeply rewarding and joyful experience.

One child writes, “I wish to become sugar, to stay sweet like it”—a line that reflects the natural sweetness, gentleness, social awareness, and meaningful communication these children are capable of. It affirms the depth of their inspiration and expression.

To support and empower these fundamental inspirations, Dr. Rupali Khomne, Group Education Officer, conceptualized this initiative through the Education Department of Panchayat Samiti Kalyan. As a result, students from Zilla Parishad schools in Kalyan have contributed their original poems to the “K Kavitecha” collection under the Kaviteche Dalan initiative.
