The staff handling the work of the office presents a list of related topics as follows.Establishment Matters – through Sectional Officer, Sr. & Jr. Superintendents, Deputy Education Officer (Establishment) are submitted to Education Officer Primary for final decision / approval.Accounting Matters – Through Junior Accounts Officer, Superintendent Gazetted, Accounts Officer and Deputy Education Officer are submitted to the Education Officer Primary for final decision and approval.Various Posts in Education Department – Superintendent ,Sr. & Jr. Assistant,Junior Accounts Officer, Superintendent (Gazetted), Deputy Education Officer.It is the responsibility of the staff of the concerned office to receive and submit the information/reports from the taluka level and to supervise these works and to keep the records up-to-date in their possession.
Objectives & Functions
Education Committee Meeting
There is a provision to hold education committee meetings from time to time.
All Zilla Parishad members in Education Committee participate in the working of this meeting.
This meeting is organized by the Education Department.
The subject paper notice for the Education Committee meeting is
sent 10 days before the meeting. Minutes of the meeting are taken and finalized with the approval of Hon'ble Chairman, Education Committee and sent to all honorable members.

Joint Venture(Central & State)
Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman Yojana:-Under the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman Yojana, the students of 1st to 5th and 6th to 8th are given nutritional food during the mid-term break in schools in which the central share is 60% and the state is 40%. The scheme is implemented for central and state government schools, local self government schools, government approved aided schools and non-resident students of government and government aided ashram schools. This scheme is implemented to reduce dropout of boys and girls
Citizen Charter
Various activities are implemented by the Government of Maharashtra and Education Department to create a brighter generation in the future as well as to create educational infrastructure in terms of economic and social transformation.
OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT
1. To raise the standard of primary education to complete primary education of all boys and girls.
2. Achieving the target of 100% attendance by reducing student dropout in schools.
3. To implement alternative education activities for migrant boys and girls aged 06 to 14 who have dropped out of school and never attended school. 4. The following Central and State schemes for educational development are effectively implemented.
1) Distribution of free uniform to students.
2) Providing free textbooks to students.
3) Suvarna Mahotsavi Scholarship Scheme.
The actual implementation of the schemes in the Education Department is done through the Head of the Department in the Regional Office and the staff officers under his supervision.

Kitchen Garden (Parsabag)
| Introduction | In Thane district, under the rural and central kitchen system schools, the Government of India has issued guidelines dated 15 October 2019 under the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman Yojana to develop kitchen gardens in schools. The vegetables and other produce grown in these gardens are to be included in the school nutrition meals. |

| Implementation | Accordingly, students in the district are being provided the benefits of the scheme by including vegetables, fruits, and other produce grown in school kitchen gardens in their nutritional meals. |
| Objectives |
The initiative aims to: • Bring students closer to nature • Provide joy of creativity and learning through gardening • Ensure availability of fresh and nutritious food • Improve the overall nutritional value of school meals |
| Special Initiative | To effectively implement the kitchen garden initiative, the Government has been organizing an “Excellent Kitchen Garden Competition” since the academic year 2022–23. |
| Current Year Goal | For the academic year 2024–25, the Government has set a target to establish kitchen gardens in all schools across the state. |
| Support & Guidance | Schools are encouraged to seek guidance from nearby Krishi Vigyan Kendras, agricultural schools, agriculture department officials (assistants/supervisors), NGOs working in agriculture, organic farming parents, farmers, and agricultural experts to promote the development of kitchen gardens. |
| Evaluation Criteria |
Kitchen gardens developed by schools are evaluated based on: • Use of organic farming methods • Preparation and use of organic fertilizers • Variety of vegetables and use of indigenous seeds • Use of microgreens techniques • Inclusion of low water-consuming crops • Use of waste materials available in schools • Participation of students, parents, and teachers • Awareness among students about nutritional value of vegetables • Inclusion of produce in school meals |
| Incentives | Based on evaluation, schools are provided incentive grants to encourage effective implementation of the kitchen garden initiative. |
