    Introduction – Department of Women and Child Development

    Vision and Mission –

    Women and Child Development Department is one of the total 14 departments of Thane Zilla Parishad District Program Officer (Women and Child Development) is the head of this department. Development schemes related to women and child welfare are implemented through the department through various state-funded, centrally-funded and district self-funding schemes.

    Objectives Functions Text-

    1. Implementation of Government Schemes – Effective implementation of development schemes

    related to women and child welfare through state, central and district self-funding.

    1. To supervise the control of Anganwadicenters in the district.
    2. To observe the working of Women and Child Welfare Committee meeting of Zilla Parishad.
    3. To see the work related to the establishment of officers and employees of the department.

    State Government –

    1. A) Bharatratn Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam Amrut Ahar Yojana :
    • To reduce the incidence of malnutrition in Scheduled Areas pregnant women and lactating mothers are given square meals once every 6 days in a week. (Rate Rs. 35 per beneficiary)
    • Beneficiaries aged 7 months 6 years are given eggs/bananas 4 days a week. (Rate per

    • In Thane district, the benefit of the said scheme is given to 100% registered beneficiaries
    • The said benefit is being given to nearly 50 thousand beneficiaries in the district
    1. B) Lek Ladki Yojana:-

    Objectives of the Scheme

    • To increase the birth rate of girls by encouraging the birth of girls.
    • To promote the education of girls.
    • Reducing the mortality rate of girls and preventing child marriage.
    • Reducing malnutrition. Encouraging to reduce out-of-school ratio to 0 (zero) girls.

     Terms and Conditions:-

    • The scheme will be applicable to one or two daughters born on or after 1st April, 2023 in yellow and orange ration card holder families. Also, if there is one boy and one girl, it will apply to the girl.
    • It will be mandatory for the mother/father to submit the family planning certificate while submitting the application for the second installment of the first child and for the second installment of the second child.
    • Also, benefit of this scheme will be admissible to one girl or both girls if twins are born during the second delivery. But after that it will be necessary for the mother/Hapta to undergo family planning surgery.
    • The scheme will be admissible to a girl/boy before 1st April 2023 and a second girl or twin girls (independent) born thereafter. But the mother/father will have to undergo family planning surgery.
    • Beneficiary’s family must be a resident of Maharashtra state.
    • Beneficiary bank account must be in Maharashtra state
    • The annual income of the beneficiary family should not exceed Rs.1 )

    2 The nature of the scheme Girls who have passed Computer Training (MSCIT) between 1st January l 2023 and 31th March 2025 after submitting the Computer Training Completion Certificate will be charged as per rules by deducting 10 percent of the beneficiary’s share of the computer training fee or as soon as possible the amount modified by the Government / the amount approved in the Purchase Committee meeting to the concerned beneficiary’s bank account. It will be distributed from taluka level.
    3 Objective of the scheme To help 7th to 12th pass girls in tribal and rural areas to acquire knowledge and skills by imparting computer training To help girls become computer literate by creating confidence in them.
