    The Health Department is one of the 14 important departments under the Zilla Parishad.
    The District Health Officer (DHO) is the head of this department.

    Under the Thane Zilla Parishad, the following health facilities are functioning:

    • 33 Primary Health Centres (PHCs)
    • 209 Sub-Centres
    • 4 Medical Mobile Squads
    • 5 Primary Health Teams
    • 2 Zilla Parishad Hospitals
    • 1 Ayurvedic Dispensary

    Primary Health Centre :-

    Availability of preventive health care and emergency medical services through primary health center, outpatient ward, 6 bedded inpatient ward, surgical services, (family welfare female surgery) laboratory services, implementation of various national programs, providing services under family welfare programmes. And the health services are provided to the patients referred by the sub-centre. There are 13 officers/staff in each health center for non-tribal areas and 14 officers/staff in each primary health center for tribal areas. Among these, there are government directives regarding providing cleanliness and vehicle services on contract basis. Prof. in all states. come The structure of the center is the same. All these P.A. centers come under the control of Zilla Parishad.

     Sub Centre:-

    through the sub-centre, first aid, prenatal check-up of mothers and medication for minor ailments, family welfare, maternal and child care advice and services are provided along with treatment and referral services, health education etc. The government has approved 3 posts of Arogya Sevak (male) and (female) and one part-time female attendant in each sub-centre.

    Primary Health Team:-

    Under this initiative launched with the objective of providing health care facilities to the deprived and semi-deprived villagers in their villages, there is a provision to provide diagnostic treatment. Providing diagnostic facilities along with essential primary health care services. The main objective of this initiative is to reduce the rate of infant mortality and maternal mortality.

    Ayurvedic clinics:-

    There are 1 Ayurvedic dispensaries under AYUSH department in Thane district and ayurvedic treatment is provided in rural areas through these dispensaries. Ayurvedic clinics are staffed by medical officers, pharmacists and attendants.

    To provide accessible primary healthcare services to every individual in rural areas through Sub-Centres and Primary Health Centres and ensure that people receive the benefits of various health schemes.

    Mission

    • To improve the quality of physical infrastructure at all Primary Health Centres.
    • To enhance the technical knowledge, skills, and service orientation of staff and officers through training.
    • To provide services as per standard protocols with proper etiquette.
    • To ensure prompt referral services.
    • To make effective use of information technology.
    • To promote the use of eco-friendly and renewable energy sources.

    To convert Primary Health Centres into Smart Primary Health Centres.

    Objectives and Functions

    • Primary Health Centres are expected to promote health and expand healthcare services in rural areas.
    • Health education is a fundamental component of all health programmes.
    • While implementing health promotion activities, awareness must be created among the public, ensuring their cooperation and participation.

    2. Reduction of Infant Mortality Rate (IMR)
    3. Improvement in the quality of health institutions

    • Suspected patients can be traced through medical officers, community health officers, health workers, outpatient (OPD) examinations and camps as well as home visits.
    • In this, patients with symptoms are examined using Portable X-ray AI machines at the village level to make a definitive diagnosis.
